Lots of changes this year *whew* New site, new equipment, new album options… and something else I’m excited about trying: ChipIn. A little background: Often times a really nice, custom, leather album is really hard to budget for up-front…especially when the economy tanks. Until now, the main two options have been credit cards or buying...
photographic
I started on this journey back in the summer of 2000. You know, new millennium, try something new. I figured if we could survive "Y2K", we could do anything, right? So I enrolled in Photo1 as an elective for Architecture school.
I spent every day and night that summer shooting, developing, printing. We were old school back then: film, manual, and doing the entire process by hand (even rolling our own film canisters--tricky in the dark!).
From then, I went on to take 3 more classes, shoot for the Ottawa Herald, return to work for the photo lab where I started, and photograph more portraits and weddings.
Around 2004 I made the digital dive, and in 2006 I began submitting to Istockphoto.com, which really has been a learning experience. Hang on for the rest; I'll post it all right here.
personal
Now how do I fit the rest of myself into this little column? Well, here goes. I'm Brian, but a lot of people know me as 'BP'. I grew up south of St. Louis, and have lived in Kansas and Kentucky en route to Indiana. We're pretty much settling down here. *whew*
"We"? That would be me, my awesome wife Carrie, and our girls Cora (4-going-on-12) and Mary (almost 2). Oh, and our cat "Johnny", originally 'Juan Carlos, King of Spain' (long story). I've survived cancer twice (also a long story) and am completely a debtor to grace.
When I'm not behind the camera or the computer, I enjoy ultimate frisbee, basketball, anything outdoors--yes, even long walks on the beach--and catching up with our favorite shows online. If you're not scared off yet, and want to know more, add me on Facebook or take me up on that coffee offer :)
